Josh Salyer serves as Vice President of People for Wasson Enterprise, where he is responsible for creating and implementing people strategies across Wasson Enterprise and our portfolio of companies. Josh’s responsibilities include HR planning, recruitment, talent acquisition, professional development and employee engagement.
Having grown up in a small town in Eastern Kentucky, values are important to Josh. He is passionate about working across Wasson Enterprise to identify and bring to life meaningful values for each respective company we work with — values that are unique to a company’s culture and values that can be put into action. For Josh, values are an essential lens that work to build and inform a company’s culture.
Josh came to Wasson Enterprise from Amazon, where he led the HR function for numerous teams while at Amazon Customer Service. While there, he rebuilt and rebranded the HR function, positioning the team as strategic thought partners who were able to support and reimagine the rapidly changing business. Prior to Amazon, Josh worked with several Fortune 500 companies such as Hyster-Yale and Sherwin-Williams.
It’s this mix of having worked for Fortune 500 companies and Josh’s extensive experience building HR departments from scratch at Wasson Enterprise that enables Josh to serve as a meaningful HR partner for our portfolio and partner companies. Josh created WE People Solutions — our Professional Employer Organization human resources platform that can be tailored to meet the needs of each respective company — from early-stage to established companies.
Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Eastern Kentucky University, and is certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) professional by the Society of Human Resource Management.
